Presides over the 'Lacquer Art Studio Shiu' Born in Kyoto in 1948, he entered the world of lacquer at the age of 15 and studied under Ito Yuji (a member of the Japan Art Academy) as an apprentice before beginning his creative activities. His artistry and technique are highly regarded abroad, and his works are in the collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, and other museums around the world.
