Born in Nara Prefecture. Painter of the Taisho and Showa periods. His father, Himejima Chikugai, was a leading painter in the Osaka Southern School of Painting. He learned painting from his father. He specialized in Sansui landscape, flowers and birds. His works are elegant with an urban sense.
