He became the adopted son of Keinen Imao, a well-known Japanese-style painter, and inherited his painting method. He did not belong to the art world much, but mainly held solo exhibitions. Although he did not receive any significant awards, he was highly acclaimed and was presented to the Imperial Household several times.

A dignified hanging scroll by Imao Keishō, adopted son and artistic heir of Imao Keinen, a master of the Maruyama–Shijō school.
