田能村竹田 Tanomura Chikuden (1777-1835)
Nanga painter of the late Edo period, representative of the literati painting circles of the late Edo period. He lived a free literary life while visiting Nagasaki, Osaka, and Kyoto. He established his own style of painting with delicate brushstrokes, faithful to the style of Nanga (Southern-style painting) and with a high degree of dignity.
