A life of seventy years, strength spent to the very last. With this my jeweled sword, I kill both patriarchs and buddhas. I yet carry one article I had gained, the long sword, and now at this moment I hurl it to the heavens.

Received ordination as Nanzan, abbot of Shinjuan, Daitokuji Temple. Served as a member of the Daitokuji sect's religious council and director of the legal affairs department, etc.
with signature 'Zen Daitoku Soko' 前大徳宗興 and seal 'Mannen Sanshu' 萬年山主 'Soko' 宗興
